At 50, most people begin to think about what they will do when they retire. I laugh when I think it only took me 50+ years to decide “what I want to be when I grow up”! In 2008 I was introduced to hot yoga; after my first class, I knew my future was born. I had finally found what I had been searching for my entire life. This yoga is healing, peaceful, rewarding and life-changing. I can now see myself doing something that will help others achieve radiant health, while at the same time operate a successful business. I became a certified Bikram Yoga Teacher in the fall of 2009, and also received additional certification to teach the style of yoga you will experience at Clarkston Hot Yoga. Building my very own studio is a dream that I am watching unfold with much amazement and gratitude. I love living in Clarkston - such a great community!! I am now very excited to share this dream with each of you. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you, and to watch how this amazing practice of yoga and pilates brings you health, peace and life-changing results.
I became a Bikram Yoga teacher in 2005. teaching in California, Vancouver and Hong Kong before ending up managing the Bikram Yoga Department of the California Fitness Gym in Seoul, South Korea. After a few years of teaching, training teachers and developing Korean members for the annual World Championships I took a management position in Las Vegas. Here, I supported my studio owner with a transition to a “Hot Yoga” studio. I have been able to diversify my teaching, expand my yoga knowledge and taken on some new influences. In 2009 I became certified in Moksha Yoga, and in the beginning of 2010 added Baron Baptiste Power Vinyasa. I have also recently been training with Doug Swenson in Fort Worth, Texas. My teaching is a culmination of these experiences and I looks forward to being able to share my energy with the new members of Clarkston Hot Yoga on my first visit to Michigan.
I have enjoyed a rewarding career in the fitness field for over 25 years, including owning and managing my own studio, teaching a wide variety of classes, instructing in corporate settings and keeping current with ever changing fitness trends. Some of my certifications include Stott Pilates®, American Council on Exercise®, Johnny G. Spinning® and Zumba®. For ten years I owned and operated BodyWorks aerobics studio in Rochester. Several years ago I founded "Not Afraid®," an apparel company designed to help motivate women. Born and raised in Buffalo, I have an extensive background in dance and taught both here and in New York. My greatest personal accomplishment is my marriage and my two sons of which I could not be more proud. I am so excited to be a part of Clarkston Hot Yoga and their cutting edge approach to fitness. Hope to see you in a Hot Pilates class soon….
I have been practicing yoga for 8 years. I have such a strong belief in my yoga practice that I wanted to be able to share it with others. After completing my Yoga Shala in April 2009, I received my RYT in January of 2010. I believe in the power of our breath to calm and sustain us through challenging times. I believe in the power of our breath and movement of our bodies to help heal us mentally, physically and spiritually. I have been teaching gentle yoga classes since January 2009, and love sharing what I have learned, watching the changes in others as they grow in their own yoga practice.
